Incompetence pays, it turns out. The story mode for Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes is supposed to last half-an-hour, including several minutes of cutscenes - there are two hostages to prise from the clutches of the Omega site, and once you know where they are, retrieving them is a stroll in the park. Unless, that is, you have all the grace and discretion of a rusty lawnmower. It took me five hours to polish off the Ground Zeroes campaign, thanks to such clever value-for-money tactics as shooting at tanks with tranquilliser darts, and calling for rescue helicopters while hiding next to enemy AA guns.

Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes
Sniper Elite 3 never knows what it wants to be. At times, it wants you to focus on stealth. Others, it will ask you to kill anything that moves. If Rebellion wants to make stealth the more important element of the game, then it could do a lot worse than looking at the latest Metal Gear Solid.
What Ground Zeroes did better than previous games in the series was drop you into an open area and tell the player to find the objective on their own. With only a brief opening cutscene to help you locate the prisoner, you have to interrogate guards...
